Departing and returning from the Port of Timaru, this breathtaking bespoke tour is designed for small groups.

This personally guided tour takes you into the Mackenzie Country, which has stunning postcard perfect glacial blue lakes such as Tekapo and Pukaki. We take time to allow you to explore small rural towns and enjoy lakeside strolls.

Travel by passenger vans through a landscape of crop, sheep and beef farms en- route to the Mackenzie Basin. Here, the landscape and farming change dramatically. It is the domain of merino sheep and iconic high-country stations in a landscape dominated by the Southern Alps and glacial lakes.

Pause at Lake Tekapo -- a remarkable turquoise lake with brilliant views of the glacial valleys that feed it. Don’t miss the beautiful Church of the Good Shepherd (1935), whose altar window frames a postcard-perfect view.

Lunch is provided at a private home overlooking the lake.

Traveling to Lake Pukaki, you cross one of the many bright-blue hydro canals crisscrossing the Mackenzie Basin. Lake Pukaki is surrounded by big country and borders the eastern slopes of Aoraki Mount Cook National Park – named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its outstanding scenic value.

The view from Lake Pukaki of Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps is stunning but is weather dependant.

We stop to admire the Alpine Lavender farm before travelling on to view a salmon farm at Lake Ruataniwha.

Walk through the town of Omarama, whose poetic name means The Place of Light, this location is renowned for hang-gliding and clear night skies.

A stop at the River T Vineyard for a complimentary beverage late in the afternoon is a pleasant way to enjoy this landscape.

We Pass Lake Benmore, Lake Aviemore and rolling farmland before arriving back at Timaru.
